My name is Lam Khanh Mai. I was born in HCMC, Vietnam and had been working there as a web designer and front-end developer
until I moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2010 to pursue my study. Currently, I am continuing my career as a freelancer while
studying my master degree at Swinburne University.
I'm truly first and foremost a Web designer. From the last year of my high school, when
I first designed a website layout and tried developing it with XHTML/CSS, I was hooked.
The fascinating feeling of seeing my design coming into an interactive piece made me want to
pursue the career in interactive design, so I decided to study Bachelor of Design
(Multimedia Systems) at RMIT University, which I have graduated in November, 2009.
After sometime working as a web designer and front-end developer, I was involved more in planning stages of large scale websites development.
From there, my desire to expend my knowledge in web application development process increased greatly and led to my decision to continue
my study with a Master of IT (Web application development) at Swinburne University, Australia.
I specialize in web design and front-end development work, such as:
- User Interface Design: for websites, applications, backend systems.
- XHTML/CSS Coding: pixel perfect, cross-browser compatible, valid and semantic.
- Information Architecture
- SEO Optimization: with clean, search-engine friendly code
- CMS Integration: installing and customizing Wordpress
I like eating ice-cream and yogurt, listening to music, reading design books,
roaming around design blogs or web showcases to pick up new technologies and design trends.
I am also a huge cat lover who basically want to study everything about cats and willing to do
anything to please these little cuties. Back in Vietnam, I was raising two cats and lovingly let them boss me
around the house everyday (like opening the door every 5 seconds... see how tolerant I am?) Though they're not with me right now,
you'll definitely get to see their cuteness in my cat photo collection :D (and please don't panic if I suddenly dispappear, I'm probably just
got sucked in a pet shop nearby and stucked there teasing all the cats)
Aside from the kittens, I am also deeply interested in Japanese culture, both the pop and traditional one.
I love study Japanese, anime and manga, buy Japanese decorating stuffs,
and of course, eat sushi, tempura, sashimi, etc... Above all, I admire the simplicity, elegance,
unique illustrations sometimes overflowed with cuteness in many Japanese design, flash websites particularly.
Last year, I started training in gym two hours every morning to at least protect my health
from all the hours of sitting and staring at the computer and I was pretty much enjoying it.
Now I still try to keep my healthy lifestyle by going to gym at Swinburne whenever I can.
